Against All Odds Anthology Submissions Open Tomorrow

Submissions for Against All Odds, the third volume of our Far, Far Away series open tomorrow! We will be accepting short stories and novellas between 5,000 and 25,000 words until the end of May. This post has everything you need to know about what we’re looking for and how to submit your work!

What Are You Looking For?

We want stories that have been written with the theme “love against the odds” in mind. This includes love in dangerous places and times, love between diverse or marginalized populations, and/or love in unlikely or unusual circumstances. Stories can be written in any escapism genre, including science fiction, fantasy, adventure, time travel, romance, or any combination thereof. 

We are specifically seeking original, unpublished work and, as always, we prefer stories with engaging openings, character-driven stories, and quality world-building. As mentioned above, stories should be between 5,000 and 25,000 words.

How Do I Enter?

If you have a story that puts love against the odds at the forefront and would like to submit it for consideration, you can do so by emailing your manuscript to submissions@mirrorworldpublishing.com or filling out our entry form. Please note there is a $25 entry fee to submit which you can pay on our website. All the money raised will go toward prizes for the winning entries as well as production of the book, Against All Odds:

Far, Far Away Vol. 3, which is slated for release next summer.

What Happens if My Story is Selected?

If your story has been selected for publication, you will receive:

• A contract for publication in Against All Odds
• A minimum prize of $75 CAD
• One (1) author copy of the finished paperback, and the option to order more copies at wholesale cost

Can I Still Support the Anthology Even if I Don’t Submit?

Not a writer, or just don’t have a story to submit at this time, but still interested in helping bring this anthology to life? We would absolutely love it if you would consider making a donation to help fund the creation of Against All Odds. You can help us out in a couple of different ways:

• Make a straight donation on our website, for any amount you are comfortable with.
• Purchase an ebook or paperback copy of the first two volumes of our Far, Far Away anthology series in our webstore (you can find Volume One here and Volume Two here). We’ll put aside all profit from these titles in the month of May to go toward the contest and production of Against All Odds!
