J.A. Dowsett and M. Damodred reveal their mystery writing project

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you’ve no doubt noticed my #writingmarathon word counts and you may be wondering what Murandy Damodred and I are currently working on.

With the Mirror World series complete and the next romp in the Ismeran world already written, we were searching for a new project and were even bouncing some ideas around when Murandy asked me to send her Mirror’s Hope – she wanted to re-read it.

A day or two later, and she was asking me for the next book in the series – Mirror’s Deceit. (seriously, read this one second instead of Mirror’s Heart, it really is the best way to experience the series)

She was so enthusiastic about it, I decided to join her and I quickly read Mirror’s Hope, Mirror’s Deceit, then Mirror’s Heart and Mirror’s Despair and after each one Murandy and I discussed and reminisced about how much fun it had been to write the series.

That’s when we came up with an idea. We realized we still had things to explore and conclude for our characters. So though we never intended to write a fifth instalment in the Mirror World series, it’s happening. We started writing the first draft mid-December, just a few days after the decision was made, and now a month and a half later we’re a little over halfway through. At this rate, we just may beat our own speed record.

Wish us luck! And we hope you’re looking forward to reading Mirror’s Fate, the fifth and final (we promise) book in the Mirror World series when it’s finished.
