Hello Readers!
It’s mid-summer and as usual we’re in the thick of things. As you may have seen, we’ve just revealed the cover for our next children’s picture book Tabitha Won’t Sleep by David McLain and Felix Eddy which is now available for pre-order from Mirror World, Amazon, and elsewhere.
Tabitha Won’t Sleep is a beautifully illustrated picture book about a young kitten whose parents encourage her to believe that she can do anything she wants to, as long as she goes to sleep first. Children will love exploring the wonderful adventures Tabitha has in mind as she tries to avoid bedtime, and adults will love that in the end, everyone goes to sleep. Seriously, it’s past eight-thirty. Lay down your head and close your eyes.
Next up, we have the third installment of Sharon Ledwith’s The Last Timekeeper’s series. Here’s the blurb:
Eleven-year-old Drake Bailey is an analytical thinker and the genius of the Timekeeper crew. However, no logic or mathematical acumen can change the color of his skin, or prepare him for this third Timekeeper mission in antebellum Georgia. To survive, Drake must learn to play the role of a plantation slave and when confronted with the brutality, hatred, and racism of the deep south, he’ll have to strategically keep one move ahead of his sadistic captors to ensure his lineage continues.
In a dark world of Voodoo, zombies, and ritualistic sacrifice, the Timekeepers must ensure a royal bloodline survives. Can Drake remove both literal and figurative chains to save both himself and a devout slave girl from a terrible fate? If he can’t summon the necessary courage, humanity could stand to lose one of its greatest leaders.
This book is currently undergoing its final round of edits, but the cover art is done and will be revealed next month, so keep a lookout for that. The Last Timekeepers series has had some fantastic covers, and I promise you this one will be no exception.
You may have noticed that I haven’t said much about Lands of Jade; the next installment in the Crimson Winter series by yours truly (J.A Dowsett) and that’s because there has unfortunately been a delay. I’ve decided it needs another round of edits, so while I’m working on that, the re-launch is on hold. More information to come on a new release date as soon as I’m able to determine one!
And that’s not all, we’ve also got Sloth the Lazy Dragon coming later this year. Another children’s picture book by the prolific and talented Regan W.H. Macaulay and illustrated by Alex Zgud (whom you may remember from the Beverlee Beaz books), this book promotes the benefits of exercise and staying active in a fun and engaging way.
Then, in October, we’re opening our general submissions period early this year. That’s right, if you’re an author who has been waiting for your chance to submit to us, that time is quickly approaching. Check out our submissions page to read about the kinds of books we’ll be looking for and then search this blog or our youtube channel for tips and tricks for how to prepare your submission package for your best chance at joining the Mirror World family and seeing your book published in 2022.
That’s all folks, see you next time!
