Mirror World Publishing’s very first anthology launches June 17th and is now available for pre-order as an ebook or paperback in our store and on Amazon. In honour of the launch, we’re introducing each of the talented authors included in the anthology, one by one. Last week, we introduced L.R. Braden and her short story, Piece of Mind, which you can read about here. This week, it is my pleasure to introduce Shana Scott and her winning story, Songs and Superstitions.
Shana Scott is a digital archivist and content specialist with a Master’s degree in Professional Writing and Publishing. She’s a member of SFWA, and her work has been published in magazines, anthologies, and podcasts such as Escape Pod, Gothic Fantasy: Footsteps in the Dark, and TulipTree Review. Currently, she writes about the craft of world-building in her blog.
When we ran the contest last summer, we asked for stories with imaginative world-building and Shana Scott did not disappoint. Her story is set on another planet and told from the perspective of a native. Here’s the description:
Hired to exterminate the beasts roaming the newly-discovered ancient tunnels, insectoid alien Krem and human Max get trapped kilometers beneath the surface of Krem’s home planet. Together they search for a way out, but first they must escape the creatures lurking in the darkness.
You can read this story along with six other fantastic tales in Far, Far Away. Pre-order it today, or subscribe to this blog or our newsletter to be notified when it becomes available.
