Regarding his upcoming novel, David McLain said in his query to us,
I swore for a long time that I wasn’t going to explain what the Time Traveler’s Resort and Museum is about; I was only going to explain the things in it. It’s a book with dinosaurs, Nazis, Pirates, King Arthur, Sherlock Holmes, androids, a circus, a biplane, a dirigible caught in a dogfight, two motorcycle chases, a wizard and a dragon. There is no explanation for these facts that doesn’t make me sound crazy. Here goes…
The Time Traveler’s Resort and Museum is the story of Alice Anderson, the mother of time, who falls in love with three men: one from the past, one from the present, and one from the future. She misjudges them all.
“If you need to know men’s secrets
Or if there’s something you need to find
If you want to see the dinosaurs
Or the insides of your mind.
If you want to watch the earth begin,
Or see what the apocalypse will leave behind,
You need to thank Alice Anderson,
For Alice is the mother of time.”
That was how the rhyme went. Every time traveler knew it. Everyone that is, except of course, for Alice herself, since she hadn’t invented time travel yet. Since returning to London, Alice’s life has been turned upside down. She’s been accused of murder and lost her position in the scientific community. Her only ally in this journey is a strange man who seems to think that Alice may be about to open up a strange new world of possibilities, but is probably not telling her everything he knows.
We hope you will join us in welcoming David McLain and congratulating him on his upcoming novel! To keep up with the progress of The Time Traveler’s Resort and Museum, please subscribe to this blog or check back often!
