We’ve already mentioned that the name of our publishing house, Mirror World Publishing, comes from this month’s featured book, Mirror’s Hope, but you might not know why that is or what it means.
Mirror’s Hope and its sequel, Mirror’s Heart, are set in one of two parallel worlds known as the Mirror Worlds. In this fantasy universe every person has a double of themselves called a Mirror who lives in the world opposite them. Their Mirror looks the same as they do, but personality-wise there is something that sets them apart and makes them opposites.
With me so far?
In Mirror’s Hope, our main character, Mirena, lives in the world that is a dystopia ruled by an unforgiving tyrant and his Generals. She accidentally discovers a way to travel between the two worlds and discovers a utopia inhabited by Mirrors of the people she knows. Through her experiences there she learns how things could be different and returns to her own world with a newfound purpose; revolution.
The take-away from this is that books can act as gateways to other worlds and ways of thinking. They can teach us something about ourselves and the world we live in and when we are finished reading them, we sometimes come away from the experience having changed our perspective. Our goal specifically at Mirror World Publishing is to provide that experience through creative works of fiction. We choose to publish books that feature other worlds, places, times, and versions of reality that can offer us both an escape and a new perspective on our own existence.
I hope that helps explain the choice we made when naming the company and that you’ll consider a visit to the Mirror Worlds in the near future. To facilitate this, we’ve discounted Mirror’s Hope for the month of January. You can get $3.00 off the ebook or paperback with the code FEATURE in our bookstore and we’re also giving away a SIGNED PAPERBACK to a lucky winner on goodreads.com.
