Introducing… Rita Monette!

You know you’re starting to love these introduction posts, right? Please join me in welcoming Middle Grade author and artist, Rita Monette!

Rita-studio pic cropped-croppedRita has written and done the art for two books in her Nikki Landry Swamp Legends Series, The Legend of Ghost Dog Island and The Curse at Pirate’s Cove. Her art is impressive and her writing beyond compare and I look forward to being able to share them both with her.

In The Legend of Ghost Dog Island, Ten-year-old Nikki Landry’s father relocates their raggedy old houseboat several times a year in search of better crabbing spots. However, their latest move has brought her to a mysterious bayou where she feels something is watching her from a nearby island. Papa reassures her there’s nothing on the island but gators and snakes. But when Nikki’s dog goes missing, she is forced to learn the truth behind a strange legend…

Rita Monette was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana. She loves to write stories set in the beautiful, yet mysterious, bayous and swamps of her home state. Her debut middle grade novel, The Legend of Ghost Dog Island, was released in 2012 by Musa Publishing, followed by the sequel, The Curse at Pirate’s Cove, in 2014. Her books also include her artwork. She is now signed with Mirror World Publishing, who will re-release her Nikki Landry Swamp Legends series.

She is currently retired and lives with her husband, four lap dogs, and one lap cat, in the mountains of Tennessee. Besides writing and illustrating, She enjoys participating in festivals and craft shows where she does face and body art, along with selling her books.
